Warby Parker Brings the Roaring 20s Back

When it comes to style the details are key in taking your look from everyday to something memorable. These details can be the texture of the material, subtle draping of the clothes, or your accessories. This is especially important for items you wear everyday such as glasses. Seen as merely functional by some people the style of glasses are often overlooked, but that is a mistake. When choosing glasses you should consider face shape, skin coloring, and your personal style.

Warby Parker is a prescription eyewear company that creates affordable but stylish, vintage inspired specs. A pair of glasses from Warby Parker also benefits others, because for every pair of gasses brought another is distributed to a person in need. The 1922 Collection is their newest collection that looks like it would fit perfectly in a speakeasy or the soon to be released Great Gatsby movie. A mix of thin gold frames and tortoiseshell patterns the glasses each model comes in a sunglasses version. These glasses are perfect for those who aren't afraid to make the statement that the carefree 1920s are back.

The eyeglasses from the 1922 Collection can be found here and the sunglasses can be found here. Warby Parker glasses start at ...

Bright Light

Canary Yellow

Lanvin satin strapless dress, $2,420 / Marc Jacobs shirt / Moschino Cheap & Chic , $62 / L.A.M.B. strappy heels / Satchel bag / Marc by Marc Jacobs marc and marc jacob, $46 / NARS Cosmetics / Nail care

One of the big colors this spring is canary yellow. This bright color is perfect for warm weather and is a great way to add a pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit. For those who aren't afraid of color this color looks amazing as a solid dress. Whether prints or solids yellow looks great paired with almost any other color. On the runway, this color was worn as a bold pantsuit or a slightly mellow, lace sheath dress. This color can fit any style from the feminine to the edgy.

A Whole New Level of Obsession/ Borderline Stalking

Shoe Obsessions

Balenciaga / Yves Saint Laurent high heel sandal / Valentino high heel sandal / ChloƩ pointy toe boots, $1,305 / ChloƩ platform sandals / Christian Louboutin / Alexander Wang snake skin pumps

You know how they say some people have champagne taste on a beer budget well they were talking about me. My obsession with fashion is love/hate. I love going seeing what's new and imagining how I'd wear something, but hate seeing the prices. This becomes the most evident when it comes to shoes. Inevitably I spend hours scouring websites trying to find dupes for the designer shoes I love only to realize that those dupes fall short because they lack the sleek, effortless silhouette that seems to scream luxury. I have very specific taste and once I see a piece I instantly imagine what the perfect shoe for that trend would look like for me. To be fair a lot of the designer shoes often fall short too because of this specificity, but above are a few shoes that just scream perfect. (The Alexander Wang Joan heels could not be found so they were switched out for a similar style.) These are the shoes that need to stay out or come back for when I'm not a college student and have money to actually buy them. I either need to lower my standards or start designing shoes myself otherwise I'll always be disappointed.

ASOS Holiday Lookbook 2012

The ASOS Holiday Lookbook is out and I love almost every outfit and piece of jewelry. My favorite look is the printed sheath and when it becomes available, depending on the price, I want it. The ASOS lookbook veers from the stereotypical holiday looks. The scalloped, sequin blouse paired with black trousers is dressy and not the LBD everyone expects. The tunic shirt paired with the knee-length skirt creates a lean, monochrome look that is festive but edgy. Out of all the jewelry the bejeweled statement necklace and the collar stuck out. Which is your favorite look?

The Doctor Is In

The doctor satchel is the "it" bag of the season and was spotted on many runways. This bag is perfectly structured. When done in black it's sophisticated and when done in a pop of color it's a great way to add some fun to a typical outfit. In my imagination, where I somehow manage to pass orgo and become a doctor these would be the bags I carried. Of course, my favorite has to be one of the most expensive one (the Gucci which also comes in burgundy), but as the trend grows it will become easier to find cheaper alternatives.

A Moodier Take on Red

Oxblood is a huge trend this fall and I love this color for fall because it's warm and luxe and looks great in thinner fabrics like the Helmut Lang dress are heavier textures for layering such as a thick knit sweater. An it color is a great way to update your wardrobe without jumping on a trend that doesn't fit into your closet at all. On the runway this was definitely one of the more wearable trends. Oxblood is luxe and glam without being overtop unlike red. Oxblood is moodier, darker, and ultimately more sophisticated than the overdone red.

Flowing and Soft at Elie Saab

The past week or so have been hectic since I finally started school again and my class workload is ridiculous so I've been slacking on writing new posts. But I am now settled and ready to jump back into blogging. Despite my lack of posts I have kept tract of Paris Fashion Week and I have seen some shows that were great such as Isabel Marant and Saint Laurent but they were towards the end of the week. My favorite show so far has to be Elie Saab. I love his show, because I know that I am always going to fall in love with his evening wear and this time was no different. However. there was a nice surprise in his increased focus on daywear. Elie Saab stuck to the quintessential image of spring with bold, saturated colors contrasted with outfits done in clean, neutral colors. I love his tailoring on the short suit and the digital print he repeated in several dresses. His evening wear focused on the emphasizing the curves of a woman by following the natural curve with contrasting colors and materials such as lace. The dresses were extremely intricate but still managed to be light and flowy. This collection is going to be another red carpet hit.
